A Little Coffee Table Book of Hope

Faces of Hope 10 Years Later: Babies Born on 9/11 by Christine Pisera Naman (Health Communications, Inc., 2011, 119pp.)

In 2002, Christine Pisera Naman made her debut in the publishing world with her inspirational book, Faces of Hope: Babies Born on 9/11. It collected the baby pictures of fifty infants, one from each state, who were born on that fateful day in September ten years ago. This year, she has produced the book’s sequel. Featuring the same children (who are now grade-schoolers), each photograph is set alongside crayon pictures drawn by the children and coupled with each individual’s thoughts on how to make the world a better place. Each respective page lists the child’s name, home state, and time of birth. The book is laid out very simply, but the times of birth are unlabeled as such, and may cause some confusion (is this the time the picture was taken? The time of birth?) In a touching gesture, the author also pays special tribute to Christina Taylor Green, a 9/11 child from Maryland who was killed in the Arizona Shooting Rampage earlier this year. This is a sweet, hopeful little book, perfect for children and your coffee table book collection.
